New Year, New Goals: Resolutions for 2021

New Year, New Goals: Resolutions for 2021

Just like that, 2020 flew by, and we are already halfway through January. This past year brought unexpected changes to the world, and it still feels like we are adapting to the new normal. Despite the trials and tribulations that our industries experienced in the past year, we continue to be resilient and look forward to a brighter future.

According to Victor Frankl, “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” While creating and reevaluating your objectives can be done at any time, there’s something about the new year that makes it feel like a fresh start of endless opportunitiesThe best way to move forward from this pandemic is to plan realistic and achievable goals that can help you continue to grow as an individual.

We asked some members of our Bristol family to share their own goals to kick-off 2021:

My resolution is to learn to read and write Japanese in 2021. I’ve learned to speak it during the pandemic (not very well), but I haven’t yet tried to learn to read and write it.

– David, Vice President

My resolutions for 2021 are things that I thought I’d naturally have enough time for during all of the 2020 stay-at-home quarantines and the economy slow-down. But I ended up with less free time than in non-covid times! Professionally, I would like to revamp our marketing material. Personally, my reading list has gotten pretty long so I set a goal to read a book a month (this means less TV!). Another one is to get down to inbox zero in all mailboxes.

– Jessa, Director of Creative Operations

Certainly a bit cliche, but wholeheartedly true: I would like to dedicate more time to the things that I love. 2021 is the year to see new places with my wife, achieve difficult physical fitness goals, spend quality time with my family, and meditate frequently.

– Alexander, Recruiting Associate

In 2021, I aim to create a stricter morning routine to feel more energized and productive while working from home, including going out for a short walk and drinking a glass of water as soon as I wake up. I also want to make a conscious effort to practice one act of self-care each day. During the holidays, my best friend gifted me with a journal called, Do One Thing Every Day that Makes You Happy. I thought it would be a perfect way to utilize the present and keep myself accountable!”
